A warm, intimate duet recording with terrific vocals by Sammy Davis Jr and impeccable guitar accompaniment from Laurindo Almeida. Sammy Davis Jr & Laurindo Almeida Sammy Davis Jr sings Laurindo Almeida plays 1966 - Originally released in 1966 as Reprise LP RS-6236 - CD - 320Kbps Sammy Davis Jr was an American entertainer. Primarily a dancer and singer, in 1959 he became a member of the famous Rat Pack, led by his friend Frank Sinatra, which included fellow performers Dean Martin, Joey Bishop, and Peter Lawford. Laurindo Almeida was a Brazilian virtuoso guitarist and composer who made many recordings of enduring impact in classical, jazz and Latin genres. He is widely credited, with fellow artist Bud Shank, for creating the fusion of Latin and jazz which came to be known as the Jazz Samba. Though Sammy Davis Jr. was best known for singing to big band swing sounds, when given the chance he could shine just as well in other musical landscapes. Here he's paired with Brazilian guitarist Laurindo Almeida, performing jazz standards. The pair effortlessly complement each other inside the very intonation and tenor of their respective crafts. Davis incisive abilities as an emotive performer bring a pervasive dramatic quality to the wide range of material covered. Unique and thoroughly fascinating. Tracklist: 1. Here's That Rainy Day 2.
